The hotel could be considered as pretty basic compared to others on our list, but, regardless, it is more than suitable for you and your family’s visit to Japan.

11. Akasaka Excel Hotel Tokyu – Cosmopolitan Neighborhood With Two Train Stations

However, one negative aspect of the hotel (or positive, depending on your view) is that most of the hotel allows smoking. If you want a non-smoking room for your family, you expressly request this upon booking. There is also no pool, no gym, and pets are not allowed either.

A metro station and a shopping arcade are only mere minutes from the property as well. If your family is looking for a hotel in a safe and enjoyable cosmopolitan neighborhood of Tokyo, with easy access to the rest of the city (and beyond), Akasaka Excel Hotel Tokyu is a good stay.

Situated just 400 meters from Honpō-ji Temple and the Drum Museum, and only 100 meters further lies the Eiken-ji Temple. Within a short walk, you’ll begin to experience some of the greatest sites in Tokyo, including the Kaminarimon and the Sensō-ji Temple. Even more, museums, restaurants, monuments, shops, and just about anything else you can think of are all reachable in under 30 minutes walking from the hotel’s location.

13. ICI HOTEL Asakusabashi – Taito District of Tokyo

The Ici Hotel Asakusabashi by Relief enjoys a privileged location in the Taito district of Tokyo, 200 meters from Ichogaoka Hachiman Shrine, and only 300 meters from the city’s main conference center. The location is strategic and very close to Akihabara. The service of the hotel is known to be top-notch, the staff very attentive and professional.

Kombini, bars, restaurants, tourist attractions, and kid-friendly establishments lie close by. The Asakusabashi metro station is five minutes’ walking distance from the hotel as well, making it more than quick and easy to further explore the city and all it has to offer.

Only two km from the hotel is the Edo-Tokyo Museum, and 3 km further is the famous Tsukiji Market boasting some of the best shopping and seafood selection in all of Japan. The rooms are sleekly designed and modern, with an industrial sort of vibe about them. All of the rooms come with regular amenities such as coffeemakers, mini-fridges, desks, TVs, WiFi, and more.

Set in a venerable district renowned for traditional doll, bead and handicraft shops, this modern hotel is a 5-minute walk from Asakusabashi metro station. It’s 2 km from the Edo-Tokyo Museum and 5 km from Tsukiji Outer Market, with shops and seafood restaurants.

On the downside, there is no pool, no hot tubs, and no pets allowed. Furthermore, there are no parking spaces either. In case you rent a car, you will need to arrange to park elsewhere. That said, the hotel does offer bike rentals, and there is paid parking nearby.

16. Mimaru Tokyo Nihombashi Suitengumae – Within 15-Minute Walk of Edo Tokyo Museum

Setting just over a mile from some of Tokyo’s best family-type tourist attractions is our last family-friendly hotel suggestion, the Mimaru Tokyo Nihombashi Suitengumae hotel. Modern and comfortable rooms are only one great aspect, the hotel is also close to the Tokyo Haneda International Airport (less than ten minutes by car), and even closer to the Kachidoki Bridge and the Imperial Palace (less than three km).

The Hotel offers free WIFI throughout the property and each of its units is equipped with a flat-screen TV and a kitchen as well. All rooms also come with a private bathroom with a shower, hairdryer and free toiletries, in addition. Rooms also feature a convenient seating area.

There is no parking available, and pets are not allowed on the premises either. However, the facility is safe and secure, monitored by CCTV, and the room doors operating via key card access, making it a good option for your family if security is a major concern. Another downside, though, is that the staff may not have the best understanding of English as they speak mainly Japanese and Russian.

That said, it is still a great choice for families, especially those who speak Japanese. Board games, puzzles, and other forms of family entertainment are available as well. There is a luggage storage space for leaving gear behind while exploring, as well as a coin launderette and vending machines. And, for those who prefer, housekeeping and room service is also available on a daily basis for an extra charge.
